We have known each other for 9 years but we were just friends. Leroy moved to Virginia shortly after high school but always kept in contact. We met occasionally when he came in town to visit his family.  On one beautiful Saturday afternoon, Priscilla posted a lovely picture on snapchat from a cookout she was attending. Coincidentally, Leroy was coming in town that weekend. He reached out to meet up, but this time there was a difference. We had a phone conversation and the chemistry was unexplainable. We were both single at the time and we were on the same page in terms of our relationship expectations. He said “Lets go on a date! Of course Priscilla agreed. We went to one of Priscilla’s favorite restaurants. When we got there, he had a bouquet of fresh roses waiting for her. This had meaning to Priscilla because it is something, she later mentioned, she wanted for a while. At the dinner, we opened up more to each other and it flowed so naturally. Before the dinner ended, Leroy facetimed his brother and sis-in law and said I’ve found my wife. Yes! to speaking things into existence! We spent about 2 hours after dinner just talking. We made the decision that night to take things a step further. As the days went by, the conversations got deeper, and I had no doubt in my mind that He was the one. We continuously and constantly were on the phone because of the distance. It wasn’t easy.

We talked about EVERYTHING, including the proposal and marriage. Priscilla mentioned that she wanted to be surprised. She specified that there has to be a photographer present to capture the moment whenever it came. Fast forward to Christmas eve, we were looking at rings and getting our ring sizes. We entered about 2 jewelry stores and we both knew the kind of ring Priscilla wanted. Then we decided to check out one last jewelry store. There was this ring (the one Priscilla is currently wearing!!!!), It was so beautiful. She tried it on, looked at the price tag and quietly put it down. Leroy expressed that he knew she loved that particular ring. The jeweler tried other options but nothing struck her like that particular one. Then Leroy said, we’re getting that one, the one you want. Priscilla laughed in denial and told him to quit playing. He expressed that he was serious and we will get that ring. Priscilla was actually speechless at the time. He put a ring on it right there! Although there was no photographer there, that memory will forever be captured in our hearts and minds!  Now, we’re planning a celebration of this amazing love we share! It is our prayer that as we embark on this journey together, the people that mean so much to us will share in our joy as God leads us into this sacred institution of marriage.
